Hallowe'en Competition winner

On our way to Hull, we stopped at a Little Chef for dinner, and Sofia entered a colouring competition.

A few weeks later, a parcel arrived - and she was one of the winners!

Walking

Olivia has now taken her first real steps - it happened yesterday - 29th October.
Today, she is progressing well, and can walk 4- 5 feet in a stumbling manner, sometimes!

Pointing, Clapping and Cruising

Olivia started to point, clap and cruise a few weeks ago. She can also crawl up the stairs. We can't take our eyes off her for a second as she is always climbing up things, and getting into dangerous situations!

Sam and Olly

Karen, Charlie, Sam and Olly came to stay for the weekend. Sofia took quite a shine to Olly in particular. They had a great time searching for bugs, and playing hide and seek in Thorndon Park, and also at Colchester Zoo.

Jackie suggested we needed something to protect Olivia from falling....

Clapping, Sleeping and Pre-School

Olivia has started to clap! And she is getting much more adept at climbing up things - mostly dangerous things like chairs and the oven, but most usually Jackie's leg.
Olivia is also sleeping through now - she goes to bed around 7pm, and then is fed between 10 - 10.30, she'll sometimes wake up for this, or she'll be fed in her sleep.

Sofia slept through the night on Saturday with no nappy. So far, there have been no accidents (although only had 2 nights so far).

Sofia has started Pre-School today (1st September). She will be going Roundwood on Mondays and Wednesdays (which is at the church where she does ballet), and Friends Meeting House on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is from 9.15 - 12.00, so time is tight!
The routine is to feed Olivia and Sofia, and to get Olivia to bed by 9am so that Sofia can get there on time. Then Olivia will have needed to have finished her lunch by 11.55, so that Sofia can be picked up!

Sofia carries on going to nursery at Phoenix all day Friday too.

Crawling

Olivia has now started to crawl - she went very quickly from pulling herself slowly just using her arms, to proper "bottom in the air" crawling... and she is into everything.

However, she is not really content just crawling, she wants to be walked around everywhere which is putting a lot of strain on our backs.

Meanwhile, Sofia fell about 6 - 7 feet off a climbing frame at Lola and Hanna's house. We just heard a big thud - luckily she was fine, and running around within 5 - 10 minutes.

End of July 2008

Olivia is now 9 months old.
For the last week or so, Olivia has not been well. She has a chest infection, and a bit of diarrhea. She has a really bad cough and a runny nose, so nights have been a bit tough. Jackie decided to try and see if she could get her through it using homeopathy, but this didn't seem to work, and after visiting the doctors again on Monday has relented and will now give her antibiotics.
She has also started to crawl now, and also wants to be held up so she can "walk".

Sofia (who is nearly 3 1/2) is fine, although she is becoming very moody at times - is this the start of early teens?

This weekend, Sofia went swimming on Saturday. It was the last one of the term. Unfortunately, Olivia's class for September is full.
Sofia also got her first bike which she promptly fell off!

On Sunday, we went to a picnic at Fitzwalter's farm nearby as the local vicar was retiring. The weather was lovely, and Sofia enjoyed playing in the swimming pool there, and when we got home she continued to splash in the pool at home.
