Caterpillar Butterfly

Sofia got a Butterfly kit for Christmas, and we sent for her caterpillars last month.

They were tiny when the 5 of them arrived, but they grew very quickly indeed, and soon they were big hairy caterpillars.

They then all went to the top of the pot and started to pupate.

Sofia loved taking them to pre-school to show al her friends.

Daddy then transferred them to the Butterfly house, and we waited for them to hatch as butterflies.

After a week or so, they started to come out of their pupae. We saw one coming out at breakfast one day.

We put some flowers, leaves and a slice of orange in their house, and sprinkled them with sugary water for them to drink.

Once all of them had hatched, Sofia set them free. The last one didn't want to leave her.

Olivia called hem "pillars" even when they were butterflies.
